Deceleration time is the single most beneficial component in reducing the severity and magnitude of any impact — the more time, the less energy transferred.Because of our proprietary IDS technology, our speed sensitive dampener progressively lowers the head's velocity and almost triples the time to peak, spreading our already drastically reduced load over nearly triple the time.UPPER-NECK TENSIONThe original FHR’s were designed to limit upper neck tension. At the time auto racing's biggest problem was basal skull fracture. Caused by the whiplash motion in an impact, basal skull fracture often severed spinal cords, resulting in death. The original FHR designs did wonders for limiting how far forward the helmet could travel in an impact eliminating the finished whipping motion.In testing to see how well FHR’s do at preventing basal skull fracture, we look at upper neck tension. Simpson Hybrid S 3-Point Head and Neck Restraint The Hybrid S Head Restraint is FIA and SFI approved (when worn with a multi-point harness system) and is tested and shown to be compatible with 3-point harnesses used by Car Club enthusiasts and High Performance Driving Experiences. This allows Driving Instructors, Auto Manufacturing Test Engineers, and others in cars with 3-point harnesses to have added protection. We are pleased to offer this great option for increased protection to this sector of the market. Bear in mind, however, that on a racetrack the best protection we believe is a Full-Containment Cockpit System that includes a full containment seat, Snell SA2015 or FIA 8860 rated helmet, FIA or SFI approved head restraint, and 6- or 7-point racing harness system. (The SAS strap anchor loops hook into the buckle of a 5-, 6- or 7-point racing harness.) Have the wearer put on the Hybrid S and get into the driver's seat. Follow the instructions on fitting the device to the wearer. Engage the 3-point seat belt and sit in the normal driving position. Have a helper apply gentle pressure to the top of the device, keeping the device stable during tether adjustment. The device should be in a comfortable position behind the driver’s back, against the seat cushion. With the helper holding the device and the driver looking straight forward, hold the triangulated tether up to the anchors on the driver’s helmet. Adjust the side tethers so that the end fitting can be easily inserted into the helmet anchor without pulling down on the helmet. A comfortable adjustment on the side tether is to have about ¼” of slack in the tethers. With the helper still holding the device down and the driver looking straight ahead, adjust the rear tethers so that there is ½” to 1” of slack. Test the amount of head movement by moving the head straight forward. The driver should have 1” to 2” of forward head movement before the slack is taken out of the tether. Remember when checking this not to rotate the head down; translate it straight forward. This should allow for plenty of head movement on track. Airbag Use with the Simpson Hybrid S Head and Neck Restraint: No one should unhook or disable the airbag system installed by the auto manufacturer or their authorized installer. Outside experts in Detroit have confirmed this and require their test engineers to use the Hybrid S in conjunction with the airbag in a 3-point system. Simpson agrees that the airbag and Hybrid S work together to increase protection in frontal crashes.

Sparco Sky RF-7W Carbon SA2020 The Sparco Sky RF-7W has a carbon fiber outer shell reinforced with layers of carbon-kevlar composite. The RF-7W Carbon includes a wider eye opening making it ideal for both open-wheel and closed-cockpit racing. Multiple exterior vents increase air circulation throughout a redesigned interior. Integrated channels not only direct cool air onto the driver's head, some also route air towards the visor reducing the chance of fogging. The Sparco Sky RF-7W Carbon has removable, washable interior padding that's easy to reposition for a customized, comfortable fit. All interior seams have been removed from areas where pressure is exerted on the head. The Sparco Sky RF-7W has been designed to accommodate a drink tube and an intercom system (each sold separately). Available in sizes X-Small to X-Large (including new Medium/Large size using Sparco's smaller, lighter shell) with a red or black interior. To measure your head, have an assistant use a dressmaker's tape or a piece of string to measure the circumference of your head. Start at a point about an inch above your eyebrows, looping around the back of your head at the point that results in the largest measurement, and finally around to the front again. It's a good idea to take two or three measurements to make sure you have the largest one. This helmet will ship with signature required for delivery.

The Arai GP-7 SA2020 Auto Racing Helmet A driver favorite, the Arai GP-7 SA2020 helmet combines the most popular Arai features with new, improved upgrades. The Arai GP-7 is constructed with Arai’s own PBcLc (Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction) helmet shell with the same shell shape as the top-of-the-range GP-7SRC model used in Formula 1. New ventilation, a soft EPS liner, and a wider eye port for optimized peripheral vision are part of this new shell which gives the driver notable strength and flexibility. Replaceable cheek pads make racing comfortable for any driver, as do the three larger, closeable intake vents and two larger exhaust vents on the ventilation system. The Arai GP-7 helmet is Snell SA2020 certified with factory-installed M6 washers/nuts. Drivers of any skill level can install their own Head and Neck Restraint system using a 6mm bolt. The FIA-8859-2015 certification sticker is applied to the interior liner of the helmet.
