IPD Competition Plenum for Porsche 981 Spyder/GT4
Once again, Porsche left the door open for engine performance improvements with the 981 Boxster Spyder and Cayman GT4. Using the same factory intake found on the less-powerful 981 S and GTS models, despite using the 911 Carrera S 3.8L engine, the intake's 74mm throttle body limits power and torque to keep the 981 from treading too close to the 911. As a result, Porsche's 991 Carrera S delivers 420 HP while the GT4 makes 385 HP with the same engine.
Why does the GT4 produce 35 fewer horses? (The GT4 engine is only 15 HP stronger than the base Carrera 3.4L engine!) The Carrera S engine, with its 82mm throttle body, benefits from the IPD Plenum, so it figures the GT4 would really benefit from an IPD Competition Plenum and 82mm throttle body.
Initial dyno tests performed in Germany showed gains of 18 HP and 17 lbs-ft. of torque at the GT4's wheels. Considering that the 981's ECU requires more adaptation time than other Porsche models (over a hundred miles for the full adaptive process), this means the full performance gains for the GT4 will be even greater.
Thunderhill installed the IPD Competition Plenum and 82mm TB on our GT4 and were immediately impressed with the increased mid-range and top-end power and torque, and throttle response. The IPD plenum delivers net gains throughout both power and torque curves, helping the GT4 compete with its GT3 big brother.

Porsche's DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) intake in the 987.2 Boxster/Cayman (2009-2012) was a totally and completely redesigned intake system developed to improve performance, fuel consumption and emissions by optimizing the air fuel mixture directly inside the combustion chamber.
The DFI Porsche engine package is a finely-tuned performance machine and additional power proved difficult to find. The unique design of Porsche's new DFI intake system posed very challenging tuning hurdles.
As usual, however, Porsche left the door open for engine performance improvements with the 987.2 Boxster and Cayman. Porsche is famous for controlling Boxster and Cayman engine output by choking the inlet tract with a less-than-optimum throttle body. This has handicapped the smaller Porsches from treading on 911 Carrera territory.
Once again, IPD developed a design that out-performs the factory intake system without compromising reliability and drive-ability, bringing the Cayman and Boxster much closer to the performance of the 911!
This innovative and revolutionary IPD DFI Intake Plenum employs the patented "Y" design as well as an enlarged plenum area that allows for improved intake air speed and air velocity resulting in performance increases without any power losses.

The Eagle RS-8.2 suit uses a combination of Hocotex and Eagle fabrics to produce an ultra lightweight and breathable race suit. With the aim of obtaining a closer and more modern fit, preformed armholes have been used, and, in line with the requirements linked to driver mobility during a race, the elasticized panels have been optimized (armholes, sides and elasticized back). The main structure of the suit, like in the previous version, is the tried and tested characteristic Hocotex, (single-layer multilayer weave 0.6 mm ultra-thin fabric), combined with other accessory fabrics, among which Eagle elasticized fabric (by now well-known and used in various Sparco models), and panels in contrast in flat ultralight cloth for anti-abrasion reinforcements on the legs and arms. Note: Because of mounting locations in the C7, the B-pillar plastic sail panel covers will require a slot on either side to be cut. The 991.2 Turbos don't substantially benefit from any one particular upgrade, but the sum of IPD's improvements in the intake tract deliver a superior overall 991.2 Turbo/Turbo S compared to the already impressive stock car.
Porsche made a number of substantial upgrades to the 991.2 Turbo engine, including revised intake ports, larger injectors, a higher-volume fuel pump, larger turbo compressor wheels and more efficient intercoolers. But the factory intake system remained relatively unchanged from the 991.1, giving IPD a window of opportunity to upgrade and improve it.
The IPD 991.2 Turbo Competition Plenum delivers excellent engine power and torque gains that raise the performance of the already potent supercar (as well as the hair on the back of your neck). Horsepower gains are made throughout the power band, with the bulk being realized between 3500-5000 RPM. Max gain of 45 wheel horsepower come at 4300 RPM and hold strong all the way to redline. Torque is even more impressive at 60 lbs-ft. in the midrange with a massive torque gains from 3500-5000 RPM.
When combined with the IPD 991.2 Turbo Y-Pipe, available in the drop-down above, gains jump to 70 lbs-ft. of torque and 50 wheel horsepower!

The 991 Carrera is arguably one of the sexiest Porsches to come out of Stuttgart. But like most Carreras, power output is controlled to meet a performance target below the Carrera S, one that satisfies the masses but not necessarily the dedicated Porsche driving enthusiast. IPD helps scratch the proverbial performance itch for Porsche drivers looking to elevate the already visceral driving experience to the next level.
The 3.4L engine in the 991 is relatively unchanged from the previous 997.2 Carrera. It continues to employ the 82mm throttle body just like the Carrera before it. IPD's new specifically-designed 3.4L DFI Carrera intake plenum is a direct bolt-on upgrade that replaces the factory air distributor and utilizes all pre-existing factory hardware including the OE factory throttle body.
INCREASED POWER & TORQUE ACROSS THE REV RANGE
The improved IPD intake design creates increased air velocity and air speed resulting in impressive power and torque gains of 15 HP and 14 lbs-ft. at the wheels on an otherwise-stock 991. As with most IPD plenums, the bulk of the power gains are realized in the mid-range where they are most used and enjoyed. Unlike other mods, though, the IPD Plenum delivers net power gains across the entire rev range.

In 2007, the incredible 997 Porsche Turbo was the most revolutionary and capable Porsche Turbo to ever come out of Germany. This already-explosive power can be further increased with the 997.1 Turbo IPD Intake Plenum.
The patented IPD Plenum design unlocks power and torque increases over factory power curves from launch to redline. Maximum power increases take place in the midrange where they're most needed and most critical. The 997 Turbo ECU requires an adaptation period through either a series of hard pulls on the dyno or 10 to 50 miles of hard driving (on a closed-circuit or race track).
Turbo customers looking to increase engine power and torque without pushing the motorsport envelope to redline would best benefit from the 74mm IPD Turbo Plenum. This version of the plenum uses the factory 74mm throttle body and delivers impressive performance gains for both stock and slightly modified Turbos with exhaust and software. To push beyond these performance mods, we recommend upgrading to the larger IPD Intake Plenum for 82mm Throttle Body .
